Operation Al-Fajr aka Phantom Fury

March 8, 2007: Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada and Commander In Chief of the Canadian Forces rides in the Observer seat of the C130 Hercules during her flight from Camp Mirage to Kabul. The Governor General is on a surprise 3-day visit to Canadian troops in Camp Mirage and Afghanistan as her first visit to Canadian soldiers currently on operations there.

May, 2004 - Kabul, Afghanistan: Canadian gunners with Task Force Kabul leave the landing zone after slinging an LG1 Giat howitzer to a German CH-53 helicopter in Kabul, Afghanistan.

August, 2003 - Kabul, Afghanistan: A soldier with the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment (2 RCR), mans a C-6 machinegun on a Bison armoured vehicle, during a convoy through Kabul, Afghanistan. Canadian troops are in Afghanistan as part of Operation ATHENA, Canada's contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul.

+ Israeli foreign minister thanks Canada for support: OTTAWA — Tzipi Livni, the first Israeli foreign minister to visit Canada in a decade, arrived with words of thanks on Tuesday for the political support shown by the Conservative government in last summer's war in Lebanon. Ms. Livni also urged Canadians to view the thousands of Palestinians living in refugee camps as political pawns who can never realistically expect to return to Israel once a Palestinian state is established.
