Czechs on security alert

The Czech Republic went on high alert for a terrorist attack during the Jewish High Holidays.
The government announced the alert in the early hours Saturday and said it would continue for some time, with no specifics given.

Czech officials noted that the Czech alliance with the United States in its war on terror might have made it a target, but there was also media speculation that an attack was planned to coincide with Rosh Hashanah.

A government spokesman reportedly hinted that the alert was connected to the Norwegian authorities arrest of four men charged with shooting at an Oslo synagogue last weekend.

Norwegian authorities have said the men were plotting to blow up U.S. and Israeli embassies in other cities. Thousands of additional police are present in the streets of Prague and are particularly noticeable near Jewish sites, such as synagogues and the Jewish community headquarters.

ETL, thanks for the links.

I'm sure readers may have something to say about your claim that Bush and Clinton were too busy to stop 9/11. Once again you're blaming the victim here.

Remember what I told you before about a woman that gets raped?
We always somehow try to blame her... How many times has this been uttered in a court room: "Oh you should have seen how she dressed and acted before the incident...she was just asking for it"

Speaking of Bill Clinton. He had an interesting battle with a Fox News Sunday interviewer the other day:

Women in Islam are often the victims of inequalities and repression, except when it comes to terrorism it seems...

LONDON (Reuters) - Detectives said on Monday they had charged a woman from Manchester with arranging funding for terrorism purposes.

Mehreen Haji, 25, from the Cheetham Hill area of the city, was charged with two offences of entering into funding arrangements "knowing or having reasonable suspicion that it would, or might be used for the purposes of terrorism".

The charges related to amounts of 2,005 pounds and 1,991 pounds.

Haji is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Tuesday.

Police have carried out a number of anti-terrorism raids in and around Manchester in recent months.

In June, Aabid Hussain Khan was charged with conspiracy to murder and injure using poison or explosives after being arrested at Manchester airport.

Three others in northern England were also held and charged with serious terrorism offences following Khan's arrest.

A Memorable Moment In The Milosevic Trial

At the opening of the trial when Milosevic presented pictures of beheaded Serbs and Judge May said that is irrelevant. Milosevic said:

"It's not on the screens that the public sees. Right. I see it on this screen now. But this internal screen only. So he is holding a head, the head of a Serb that he cut off. So those are the 20.000 Mujahedin that were brought to the European theatre of war through Clinton's policy, and most of them remained there and some went to America and to other countries, and they went all around Europe. And then when they start beheading your own people in wars to come, then you will know what this is all about."

by John Sobieski

Ever since 9/11, one question after another about whether we were on the wrong side in the Bosnian conflict has come up....

ETL, if you'd like to increase criticism of Bush and the Republicans I don't thinking quoting a man known as the "Hitler of Serbia" is a good idea. It may work in the opposite way.

Also quoting Kerry may not be a good idea. As Bill Mahar said (I'm paraphrasing) - "Bush is so bad and Kerry STILL couldn't beat him"

Who do we blame for this? US, Israel, my dog? Anyone except radical Islam...

Muslims in Hamas-controlled Gaza have formed an ad hoc terrorist group promising to attack Christian targets to avenge the Pope’s choice of a quotation insinuating that Islam is prone to violence.

The group, which calls itself the “Army of guidance,” sent an announcement to news agencies based in Gaza saying that “every place relevant to Christians will be a target until the cursed infidel – the Vatican – apologizes to Muslims.”...

Last Friday, the 1,400 year old St. Perfidious Greek Orthodox church in Gaza was among seven Christian targets burned or vandalized throughout PA-controlled areas....

Nun forgave killers as she lay dying

Sister Leonella, a nun who devoted her life to helping the sick in volatile regions of Africa, used to joke that there was a bullet with her name engraved on it in Somalia. When the bullet came, she used her last breaths to forgive those responsible.

“I forgive, I forgive,” she whispered in her native Italian just before she died, the Rev. Malaga Wesson told The Associated Press at the nun’s memorial mass in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, today.

As the report states on page 55, Bin Laden was part of the majahideen in Afghanistan.

Sylvester Stallone Rambo III movie from 1988

Sylvester Stallone, who can't seem to draw flies unless he's playing Rocky Balboa or John Rambo, went back to the Rambo well (or septic system, as it were) to show his well-known solidarity with the Afghan freedom fighters who battled the Soviet army in the 1980s.

Notice something? No, not that Stallone milks movie characters until they turn to cheese, but that the great American hero, Johnny Rambo, was fighting with what were considered by us at the time to be the good guys, the Afghan "freedom fighters," otherwise known as, you got it, the majahideen, the majahideen that Bin Laden was a part of.

ETL/Anon, I think the comments about the Infidels Bloggers Alliance are actually helping the fight here.

The fight is against radical, violent Muslims who use violence and murder to spread their perverted view of Islam. The Infidels Bloggers Alliance are fighting that as well.

There's a comment on that post that may explain things better to you:

I just thought y'all should know, I knew several Bosnian Muslims who had fled in the early 90's. They certainly didn't seem like the jihad type. According to one of them (take it for what its worth), they Bosnian refugees received a lot of help when they first arrived from the local Islamic center, but quickly lost interest in associated with the existing Islamic community because the existing community was rather anti-semetic, while the muslim and jewish communities in Bosnia were quite close. That and the existing Muslims weren't into soccer.

'lost interest in associated with the existing Islamic community because the existing community was rather anti-semetic'

Those Bosnian Muslims did not share the perverted world view of radical Islam where Christians and Jews should be murdered in the name of Allah.

Hell, I'd support them too, would you?

The Infidel Bloggers Alliance most recent post (ETL...what are your thoughts on this one):

POLICE have agreed to consult a panel of Muslim leaders before mounting counter-terrorist raids or arrests. Members of the panel will offer their assessment of whether information police have on a suspect is too flimsy and will also consider the consequences on community relations of a raid.
Members will be security vetted and will have to promise not to reveal any intelligence they are shown. They will not have to sign the Official Secrets Act.

This week the Association of Chief Police Officers will discuss with MI5 and the Home Office whether to reveal to the panel intelligence information from the security service.

I cannot think of any other time in history where the police had to get approval from the community hosting a terrorist threat to take action. Sounds like a winning plan, doesn't it? The fact is I am utterly stunned that police will have to seek approval from any committee before carrying out anti-terror raids. If nothing else, how the hell are they supposed to act quickly on time-sensitive intelligence? And why the f**k are these people, who may even be shown information from the intelligence service, not being made to sign the Official Secrets Act? Would that somehow offend their delicate sensibilities?

Who's to blame for this one if not radical Islam?

MOGADISHU, SOMALIA (BosNewsLife) -- Muslim militants in Somalia shot and killed a young Christian man who converted from Islam eleven months ago, Christian sources said Friday, September 15.

Barnabas Fund, a well-informed group supporting Christians in mainly Islamic nations, told BosNewsLife that 22-year-old Ali Mustaf Maka‘il, a clothing merchant and college student, was assassinated September 7 in the Manabolyo quarter of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.

A case that put A.I.O.Active Islamic Youth of Bosnia in the spotlight was the 2003 murder by a young Muslim fanatic of three ethnic Croat returnees on Christmas Eve. The killer claimed he was a member of the A.I.O., which the organization denied, conceding that he might have attended some lectures. Ceric swiftly condemned the act and called on young Muslims to "stay away from superstition, false books, and teachers who do not want to understand the authentic life in our homeland," a clear reference to outside hardliners.

But in an interview he gave last year to the Islamic youth magazine Saff, Ceric rejected anonymous statements by fellow Muslim officials that organizations such as A.I.O. should not be considered part of the Islamic Community. "The Islamic Community is more important than me, us, and them," he said. "Thus, we are all the Islamic Community."

ETL, do you really believe if the US didn't help radical Muslims in Afghanistan and elsewhere that today there would not be a single radical Muslim who reads the Koran and believes in spreading Islam by sword or AK-47? Do you really believe if the US stayed away from Afghanistan when the USSR was the biggest threat during the 80s that Osama would be running a day care today, baking apple pies and waving angelically to the neighbourhood priests and rabbis?

"We'll do it their way for now.
Later we'll do it our way"
-- Osama Bin Laden

(the "God Bless Hitler" thing always makes me sick to my stomach)

There's a similar train of thought by Anon in the previous post. My answer:

Anon 12:04 AM said "The excuse is that they are killin in the name of Allah. I believe there is an even more deeper cause."

Are you saying you challenge these Muslims and are saying they are not true Muslims? Are you saying they don't really believe in the words of the Koran that they are reading?

They are telling us every day that those who oppose conversion to Islam must die by the sword (or AK-47). Can you tell us what the "deeper cause" is? Why would they lie to us when they say "those who oppose conversion to Islam must die by the sword" and when they say "Islam will cover the globe" ?

The thing about radical Islamists is that they mean what they say. You don't have to sit at home wondering what the "deeper cause" is and you won't be able to "reason" with them and "talk it out"

Regarding the site
http://www.unitedstatesofislam.com/$3B-obv.htm

Imagine the United States like that.
Imagine Mullah Omar on the 3 dollar bill:

The Treasurer's signature on the left side of the note is the infamous Mullah Omar of Afghanistan.
Mullah Omar ruled the evil Taliban for many years. Under his leadership, all music and singing was forbidden,
education of women was outlawed, possession of banned books was punished by death, men who shaved their
beards were beaten senseless, and public executions were held at the local football stadium to cheering crowds.

I found these Mohammed quotes from the Koran on the site
http://www.prophetofdoom.net

Qur’an:9:88 “The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah’s Cause.”
Qur’an:9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
Qur’an:9:112 “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”
Qur’an:9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”
Ishaq:325 “Muslims, fight in Allah’s Cause. Stand firm and you will prosper. Help the Prophet, obey him, give him your allegiance, and your religion will be victorious.”
Qur’an:8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”
Qur’an:8:39 “So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”
Ishaq:324 “He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.’”
Qur’an:9:14 “Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.”
Ishaq:300 “I am fighting in Allah’s service. This is piety and a good deed. In Allah’s war I do not fear as others should. For this fighting is righteous, true, and good.”
Ishaq:587 “Our onslaught will not be a weak faltering affair. We shall fight as long as we live. We will fight until you turn to Islam, humbly seeking refuge. We will fight not caring whom we meet. We will fight whether we destroy ancient holdings or newly gotten gains. We have mutilated every opponent. We have driven them violently before us at the command of Allah and Islam. We will fight until our religion is established. And we will plunder them, for they must suffer disgrace.”
Qur’an:8:65 “O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding.”
Ishaq:326 “Prophet exhort the believers to fight. If there are twenty good fighters they will defeat two hundred for they are a senseless people. They do not fight with good intentions nor for truth.”
Bukhari:V4B52N63 “A man whose face was covered with an iron mask came to the Prophet and said, ‘Allah’s Apostle! Shall I fight or embrace Islam first?’ The Prophet said, ‘Embrace Islam first and then fight.’ So he embraced Islam, and was martyred. Allah’s Apostle said, ‘A Little work, but a great reward.’”
Bukhari:V4B53N386 “Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah alone or pay us the Jizyah tribute tax in submission. Our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says: ‘Whoever amongst us is killed as a martyr shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever survives shall become your master.’”
Muslim:C34B20N4668 “The Messenger said: ‘Anybody who equips a warrior going to fight in the Way of Allah is like one who actually fights. And anybody who looks after his family in his absence is also like one who actually fights.”
Qur’an:9:38 “Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah’s Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place.”
Qur’an:9:123 “Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.”
Qur’an:8:72 “Those who accepted Islam and left their homes to fight in Allah’s Cause with their possessions and persons, and those who gave (them) asylum, aid, and shelter, those who harbored them—these are allies of one another. You are not responsible for protecting those who embraced Islam but did not leave their homes [to fight] until they do so.” [Another translation reads:] “You are only called to protect Muslims who fight.”
Muslim:C9B1N31 “I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and believe in me (that) I am the Messenger and in all that I have brought.”
Bukhari:V9B84N59 “Whoever says this will save his property and life from me.’”
Qur’an:8:73 “The unbelieving infidels are allies. Unless you (Muslims) aid each other (fighting as one united block to make Allah’s religion victorious), there will be confusion and mischief. Those who accepted Islam, left their homes to fight in Allah’s Cause (al-Jihad), as well as those who give them asylum, shelter, and aid—these are (all) Believers: for them is pardon and bountiful provision (in Paradise).”
Tabari IX:69 “Arabs are the most noble people in lineage, the most prominent, and the best in deeds. We were the first to respond to the call of the Prophet. We are Allah’s helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in the Cause of Allah. Killing him is a small matter to us.”
Qur’an:48:16 “Say (Muhammad) to the wandering desert Arabs who lagged behind: ‘You shall be invited to fight against a people given to war with mighty prowess. You shall fight them until they surrender and submit. If you obey, Allah will grant you a reward, but if you turn back, as you did before, He will punish you with a grievous torture.”
Qur’an:48:22 “If the unbelieving infidels fight against you, they will retreat. (Such has been) the practice (approved) of Allah in the past: no change will you find in the ways of Allah.”
Qur’an:47:4 “When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”
Qur’an:47:31 “And We shall try you until We know those among you who are the fighters.”
Tabari VI:138 “Those present at the oath of Aqabah had sworn an allegiance to Muhammad. It was a pledge of war against all men. Allah had permitted fighting.”
Tabari VI:139 “Allah had given his Messenger permission to fight by revealing the verse ‘And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah.’”
Qur’an:9:19 “Do you make the giving of drink to pilgrims, or the maintenance of the Mosque, equal to those who fight in the Cause of Allah? They are not comparable in the sight of Allah. Those who believe, and left their homes, striving with might, fighting in Allah’s Cause with their goods and their lives, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah.”
Ishaq:550 “The Muslims met them with their swords. They cut through many arms and skulls. Only confused cries and groans could be heard over our battle roars and snarling.”
Qur’an:5:94 “Believers, Allah will make a test for you in the form of a little game in which you reach out for your lances. Any who fails this test will have a grievous punishment.”
Ishaq:578 “Crushing the heads of the infidels and splitting their skulls with sharp swords, we continually thrust and cut at the enemy. Blood gushed from their deep wounds as the battle wore them down. We conquered bearing the Prophet’s fluttering war banner. Our cavalry was submerged in rising dust, and our spears quivered, but by us the Prophet gained victory.”
Tabari IX:22 “The Prophet continued to besiege the town, fighting them bitterly.”
Tabari IX:25 “By Allah, I did not come to fight for nothing. I wanted a victory over Ta’if so that I might obtain a slave girl from them and make her pregnant.”
Tabari IX:82 “The Messenger sent Khalid with an army of 400 to Harith [a South Arabian tribe] and ordered him to invite them to Islam for three days before he fought them. If they were to respond and submit, he was to teach them the Book of Allah, the Sunnah of His Prophet, and the requirements of Islam. If they should decline, then he was to fight them.”
Tabari IX:88 “Abdallah Azdi came to the Messenger, embraced Islam, and became a good Muslim. Allah’s Apostle invested Azdi with the authority over those who had surrendered and ordered him to fight the infidels from the tribes of Yemen. Azdi left with an army by the Messenger’s command. The Muslims besieged them for a month. Then they withdrew, setting a trap. When the Yemenites went in pursuit, Azdi was able to inflict a heavy loss on them.”
Ishaq:530 “Get out of his way, you infidel unbelievers. Every good thing goes with the Apostle. Lord, I believe in his word. We will fight you about its interpretations as we have fought you about its revelation with strokes that will remove heads from shoulders and make enemies of friends.”
Muslim:C9B1N29 “Command For Fighting Against People So Long As They Do Not Profess That There Is No Ilah (God) But Allah And Muhammad Is His Messenger: When the Messenger breathed his last and Bakr was appointed Caliph, many Arabs chose to become apostates [rejected Islam]. Abu Bakr said: ‘I will definitely fight against anyone who stops paying the Zakat tax, for it is an obligation. I will fight against them even to secure the cord used for hobbling the feet of a camel which they used to pay if they withhold it now.’ Allah had justified fighting against those who refused to pay Zakat.”
Muslim:C9B1N33 “The Prophet said: ‘I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and they establish prostration prayer, and pay Zakat. If they do it, their blood and property are protected.’”
Muslim:C10B1N176 “Muhammad (may peace be upon him) sent us in a raiding party. We raided Huraqat in the morning. I caught hold of a man and he said: ‘There is no god but Allah,’ but I attacked him with a spear anyway. It once occurred to me that I should ask the Apostle about this. The Messenger said: ‘Did he profess “There is no god but Allah,” and even then you killed him?’ I said: ‘He made a profession out of the fear of the weapon I was threatening him with.’ The Prophet said: ‘Did you tear out his heart in order to find out whether it had professed truly or not?’”
Muslim:C20B1N4597 “The Prophet said at the conquest of Mecca: ‘There is no migration now, but only Jihad, fighting for the Cause of Islam. When you are asked to set out on a Jihad expedition, you should readily do so.’”
Muslim:C28B20N4628 “Allah has undertaken to provide for one who leaves his home to fight for His Cause and to affirm the truth of His word; Allah will either admit him to Paradise or will bring him back home with his reward and booty.”
Muslim:C28B20N4629 “The Messenger said: ‘One who is wounded in the Way of Allah—and Allah knows best who is wounded in His Way—will appear on the Day of Judgment with his wound still bleeding. The color (of its discharge) will be blood, (but) its smell will be musk.’”
Muslim:C34B20N4652-3 “The Merit Of Jihad And Of Keeping Vigilance Over The Enemy: A man came to the Holy Prophet and said: ‘Who is the best of men?’ He replied: ‘A man who fights staking his life and spending his wealth in Allah’s Cause.’”

Qur’an:3:153 “Behold! Qur’an:3:154 “Say: ‘Even if you had remained in your houses, those ordained to be slaughtered would have gone forth to the places where they were to slain.”

Now,with regard to Istanbul pogrom by the Turks against the greek minority

there was not a radical Islam

Planning

In his 2005 book, Harvard-trained Byzantinist historian Speros Vryonis documents the direct role of the Demokrat Parti organisation and government-controlled trade unions in amassing the rioters that swept Istanbul. Most of the rioters came from western Asia Minor. His case study of Eskişehir shows how the party there recruited 400 to 500 workers from local factories, who were carted by train with third class-tickets to Istanbul. These recruits were promised the equivalent of $6 USD, which was never paid. They were accompanied by Eskişehir police, who were charged with coordinating the destruction and looting once the contingent was broken up into sub-groups of 40–50 men, and the leaders of the party branches.

Reacting to the term, "Islamic terrorism," Erdoğan stated,

Such a definition saddens not only the Muslims, but also those who believe in other religions. No religion permits terrorism. Therefore, it is very ugly to put the word Islam before terrorism. You may say religious terrorist but you can't say Islamic terrorist.

Reacting to the term, "moderate Islam," Erdoğan stated,

Turkey is not a country where moderate Islam prevails. This expression is wrong. The word Islam is uninflected, it is only Islam. If you say moderate Islam, then an alternative is created, and that is immoderate Islam. As a Muslim, I can't accept such a concept. Islam rejects extreme concepts. I am not an extreme Muslim. We are Muslims who have found a middle road.

When Matthews asked, "How do we define terror if we do not say terror is Islamic?" Erdoğan replied: "Terror is not a reason. However, can we endeavor to remove the reasons of terror? The U.S. entry into Baghdad does not solve the problem." Erdoğan also said that terrorism did not have any religion, language, race or country.

Comments: (1) Martin Kramer dismisses Erdoğan's comment about Islamic terrorism as "utter nonsense," which it is. And it is nonsense with a purpose; what Erdoğan said represents the standard verbal deception that Islamists routinely engage in, hiding their radical utopianism behind the integrity of the Islamic religion.

Ahhh...now I'm convinced you cannot be Greek.
:-)

Please speak to some Greeks who have had family who escaped Turkey...not just during the 50s but previously. Read a book as well, don't just use your Googling skills to find quotes and parts of books. Actually read a book, speak to people.

Let me educate you.

There would be a knock on the door.

They would enter your home.
Sometimes they were in uniform, sometimes not.

They would take the head of the house aside, his family in one room sitting nervously. They would tell him, you can keep your home if you convert to Islam.

"Keep" my home? But this home has been in my family for generations. We have been in this country for generations.

No matter. Convert to Islam and you can keep your home.
Otherwise, we appropriate this home for the "Turkish state" and you can live here paying rent.

If you were Greek you would know that. You would know the other things too. :-)

"Convert to Islam and you can have that job, get that University position, keep that store, your son can get into that school...."

The program was RELIGIOUS cleansing. The incredibly small minority of Armenians and Greeks who sold out their religion and converted to Islam stayed in Turkey and today their families are successful ISLAMIC members of Turkish society.

You should know this...

Sure ETL...there were never any radical Islam in Turkey.

And the Fairy God Mother is the one who left money under my pillow when I was young...

ETL, I admire your Googling skills but the quotes you find, for example Erdoğan words...let me explain how we in the west feel.

Perhaps you live in Greece, perhaps not. Perhaps you are Greek, perhaps not.

But you need to understand how a Westerner feels.

We see two kinds of Muslims. Those who are trying to kill us on planes, planes smashing into buildings, on subways, on trains, with car bombs, with bombs strapped to themselves, with IEDs, with women on bicicles with bombs strapped to themselves...

Those we call radical, extreme Muslims. Radical Islam.

Those who aren't trying to murder us we call moderate Muslims.

Now...if Erdoğan is correct and you can't split Islam like that, if there really is only ONE Islam then guess what...that scares me even more.

So let me live in this world where I separate the radicals from the "moderates" because if there is only ONE Islam...then the world is in real trouble.

Harsh reality FreeCyp. But there is no religion that preaches killing of people. It is how we interpret it. When we read holy books, we need to understand that religion is open to how you hear it, and how you understand it.

There are (holy) books that say kill in the name of God, ONLY if what you are fighting for is for "the GOOD IN HUMANITY". To remove evil from the world.

I truly believe that religion is used by cowards to hide behind their own problems, and interpretations and justify wrong doing.

I also believe, that holy books over the years, don't hold the original information - but has been changed to accommodate those human needs.

Have you read all of my posts?

"We are fighting radical Islamists who have a perverted view of Islam and use violence and murder"

It's really not easy to argue with that. We can put up smokescreens and make up excuses ("it's because of the US, Israel, The West, Europe, The Pope, my dog...")

But in the end...the ones apologizing for the cold blooded murders can always come up with excuses.

It doesn't change this:

"We are fighting radical Islamists who have a perverted view of Islam and use violence and murder"

Imagine how violent the Muslim reaction was to the Popes COMMENTS that he had to apologize 4 times. Comments IMPLYING Islam is a violent religion. Reacting with violence: burning Christian churches, murdering Christians, holding signs reading "Kill Christians, Destroy The Cross" probably wasn't a good idea if you're arguing against the Pope's comments.

Have any Muslims apologized, not for comments, but for the persecution of Jews, Hindus, and Christians throughout the world? (ETL please use your Googling skills, I'm kinda curious...)

For all that, though, I've had my fill of papal genuflection. In the first place, clumsily framed as it was, his point was clear and unassailable: true religion and violence are mutually exclusive.

In the second place, the violent response of some Muslims not only makes the pope's point, but also slanders their religion more effectively than some centuries-old quote ever could. What is the Arabic word for irony?

Between this latest controversy and the rioting earlier this year over cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad, there seems something pathetically reflexive about some Muslims' reaction to perceived religious insult. It's as if they are addicted to the faux power to be found in throwing a tantrum, threatening violence, demanding attention, forcing apologies.

Of course, faux power is, by definition, not real. Real power effects change. Faux power makes noise and changes nothing. When they behave like this, Muslim radicals highlight the difference -- and the fact that they don't know the difference.

Ultimately, this latest episode speaks less to papal error than to the fact that Islam is being hijacked by ignorant thugs who use violence -- both threatened and real -- as a conduit to power. Not justice, power. And fake power at that. In the process, they make Islam seem synonymous with bombings, beheadings and blood.

If anybody owes Muslims an apology, it's them.

Food supply part of terrorist threat

A symposium addresses the government’s effort to fight agroterrorism.

By ADJOA ADOFO
The Kansas City Star

Al-Qaeda has studied U.S. agriculture, which is in need of defense, FBI deputy director John Pistole told about 900 people gathered at the Westin Crown Center on Monday.

“I believe that the terrorist threat is changing and even adapting — but so are we,” Pistole said.

The second annual International Symposium on Agroterrorism opened to a packed crowd, primarily industry leaders from across the country and 20 countries. Those attending the five-day event represent various aspects of food production, as well as law enforcement and food scientists.

In his speech, Pistole discussed the potential threat of agroterror attacks. As evidence, he pointed to documents found after Sept. 11 detailing information on U.S. agriculture and translated into Arabic.

Remember, good and evil always co-exist. There cannot be one without the other. Although there are brave men/women that are fighting for this justice, there are many amongst those that also exploit their position (capture and torture). These, thankfully, are fewer in number - at least we hope.

Good will always win over evil. There is such a vast population in this universe. Coming together, and finding/capturing the culprits that propogate the evil - and then PUNISHING THE MF'in SOB's - is a crucial first step.

I disagree with An 3:50

I don't believe all muslims are killers if they believe in the words of koran.

I believe that the muslim faith is evolved over years into something that it was not meant to be.

Every faith has flaw in the way of execution of certain principles. However, this is not what the religion preaches.

People have a way of interpreting words in many ways. Something said in a simple context can be distorted by others very easily. Look at what happened with the Pope. His intent was much different then what some heard.

Muslim faith has evolved. Oppression of women in some muslim sects has occurred, but then there are some muslims that are far more advanced then others (eg. Agha Khani's).

I don't believe a statement about Muslims being killers is fair. It is a sterotype that will only continue to propogate hate.

Agreed. The population of the world/universe is vast...evil is always defeated. In the process of defeating evil, many good will die...but not fighting the fight will cause how many more deaths? FP something you said before that got me thinking. You said the Pope knew what he was doing.

I think you might be right. It's kind of like the world now has two types of systems they can contrast: The West and The East.

Even without talking about religion, you can see the West open to criticizing itself and it's violent past, whereas the East doesn't seem to allow any discussion, no free discourse, not just about it's past but about it's violent present.

In the West, we criticize ourselves all the time. In the East, after a man comments on Islam, people get killed or churches are burned.

It's a stark contrast and a reason why people are leaving the middle east in droves. But what kind of societies in the East will we have if all the peaceful and quiet people leave and the extremists stay? Look what happened to the south of Lebanon....

Your passion and knowledge is very evident in your blog. I have the same passion, but am not so good with words.

Stronger then anything I have - is faith. Ever heard of "love conquers all"???

Well - not always. Love can fade. But stronger then anything we have is faith. God helps those that are on the side of Good. We will win this fight. Faith is what we all turn to in good times and bad. It is ALWAYS with us.

Each of us has a responsibility to our future and for our childrens as well.

If we each do our part - be it in helping the sick, teaching our children to be good, stopping racism, battling with the bad, whatever it is.....our lives can be enriched and peace achieved.

from blogger Avenging Apostate (http://pedestrianinfidel.blogspot.com/) posted on
http://alwaysonwatch.blogspot.com/

I didn't want to comment here until I had replied to ExP's (As TMW referred to him) questions.

People questioning whether I am real or another phony isn't new to me. I agree with many around here that there are many around the internet that pretend to be apostates and spread lies. I don’t know why they do that. I know what I do and why I do it, though.

The only reason I started blogging (thanks to Anti-Jihadist) is that I wanted to tell the world what Islam actually is. I knew that I was suffering and I didn’t want others to suffer. I didn’t want people to convert to Islam believing, ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ because I knew it was a lie. I still believe that and I still write with that intention.

As I have written in my posts, even if one person leaves the death cult of Islam or decides not to convert to Islam or understands the truth about Islam after reading what I write, my mission is accomplished.

I write about the situation I am in, the problems I am facing so that people will get first hand information on what actually goes on in the inner Islamic circles. I don’t claim I am in the worst situation in the world. There are many apostates from Islam who are put into mental institutions, who are persecuted, who are put in prison or/and are beheaded. That’s far worse than what I am going through. But I write about my situation so that those who can’t talk about their misery may have a voice through me.

I do not represent the whole apostate community nor do I know everything about every apostate on this planet but what I am here to tell is that what I am going through is bad but there are others going through worse.

It is true that I take a risk when I write on the internet because the ISP tracks most everything. But if I am changing something, I think this risk is worth it.

Finally, I am not a Muslim. NOT A MUSLIM. I left Islam. Now I am a Christian and if someone has problem calling me that, call me an infidel. I am not a Muslim. If someone asked whether they should trust a Muslim or not, I will be the first to say ‘HELL NO!’ I live with my Muslim family but I don’t trust them with my secrets. If I did, I would’ve told them I had converted to Christianity. I love my family and would love it if they too were able to see the truth, though.

At the end, when it comes to it, it’s them against us. You can count apostates as aliens, I don’t care. I will continue to do what I am doing because I believe in my mission.

Always on Watch,

I pray that you feel better soon.

Obsession is an incredible documentary. It leaves no doubt that Islam is spread by the sword. Any Muslim who denies this either does not know the history of his religion or he is lying.
I don't know why Pope Benedict XVI felt the need to apologize or clarify his remarks. The 14th century leader of Byzantine Christianity knew what he was talking about.
And no...I haven't seen any Muslim moderates even comment on this.

ETL and anon 9:31 PM, thanks for the links.

American Crusader, I am waiting myself to see the outrage of "moderate" muslims at the Muslim reaction to The Pope's comments. Where is the outrage to the burning of Christian Churches and the murder of Christians like the old nun in Somalia?

d'anon..."loving everyone" is great, but there are some people in this world that don't believe in that. Imagine the blood we'd have on our hands right now if we had sat at home during WWII, talking on the phone with Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Tojo Japan, trying hard to convince them to "love their neighbours"

"The worshipper of the cross, you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. ... We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion to Islam or to be killed by the sword."

-- Al Qaeda statement on Al Jazeera TV shortly after The Pope's comment.

You cannot "reason" with this kind of mentality by talking about love, peace and forgiveness.

Unfortunately, the only thing they understand is violence.

American Muslims Accept Pope’s Apology

United Muslims of America Interfaith Alliance (UMAIA)

It is time to move on. We take Pope Benedict’s apology seriously and we urge American Muslims to take leadership positions to condemn religiously motivated violence and work more deligently for building inter-religious cultures of peace and healing.

We deeply regret the violence and the loss of life that has occured. This is not acceptable.

We also accept our inability to control the actions of 1.3 billion Muslims spread all over the world.

ETL, thanks for the link. It seems that mainstream American Muslims, at least in public, are accepting The Pope's apology and condemning the violence committed by Muslims against Christians. I think there are about 4 million Muslims in American (my numbers may be wrong), or less than 2% of the population...it would be in their best interest to, at least publically, condemn the violence.

Were you able to find any links of Muslims in other countries, especially in Islamic countries, who condemned the violence?

IntenseMystery...this isn't a war to "defeat the beliefs of Muslims" or to "convert them all"
We just want to hunt down the animals that are planning to kill us and our children and to hunt down those who're giving them the weapons and money to do it.

The obsession documentary, is frustrating to watch. It's bias is childishly obvious. In fact, the whole documentary is childish. I suspect, it was produced by a branch of the U.S. marketing/branding department. I believe this to be very poor journalism, for it's lack of fact, and overuse of opinion. An exmaple of extreme inaccuracy in this film is the idea that the arab world hates America, because extreme fundamentalists, have some how tricked them through propaganda to feel "threatened" by America. There is no trick. When your loved ones have been murdered by America, you don't need a radical preacher on tv to tell you to hate America. This type of journalism, is wildly irresponsible. Shame on it's producers, for making such a childishly, amateur bit of propaganda.

Unlike christians, i believe that killing, and torturing people is wrong. These Arab groups you list off, have as much right to be on the earth as our American military. The difference being that they kill us in defense of there culture, and natural resources, and we kill them in an effort to change their culture, and control their natural resources. I am an American, and i believe in peace and prosperity ,not unlike the men who created this nation. History will show you that the righteous will prevail, if your willing to look. You list these groups that are supposedly responsible for all the killing in Iraq, but their is no logic to your argument. Why don't you go to globalvoicesonline.org, and ask some people from Irag who is killing them. The republican party, christians, the democratic party, along with corrupt officials, have killed far more Americans, than extremists have killed Arabs. Please don't irresponsibly say that Arab extremist's groups are evil because they kill their own people. You haven't earned the right to judge, untill you your self abide by the same set of standards.

You've got financial "extremist's" running around America, killing eachother over money everyday, but that dosen't give other countries the right to attack us. Why don't we say that black people kill each other too much, so we've got to shut them down. You can't stop an idea, all you can do is try to negotiate reasonably. The reason these extremist ideal's, and jihadi behavior's, are so prevelant is because of globalism. They don't want their culture to become homogenized, and they are willing to fight to prevent it. If it wasn't for martyr's, the youth might not see the importance of culture. I don't know about you, but when i travel to other countries, i don't want to see our cheap ass corporations. Can't we understand that there are other people on earth that have enough sense to resist our heathen ways. The Arab's don't like us because we will to exploit them, undermine their tradition's, and kill them. The billion's of dollars our government spends on flyers, pamphlets, television, documentaries, and other propaganda, will only fool Americans. To the rest of the world, it is an insult to their intelligence. Just because we can't seem to see who is behind attacks on our country, doesn't mean that they can't see that we are the one's killing them. What does violence amongst themselves, have to do with them resenting us killing their innocent? If China attacked us, would we say, oh it's okay because african american's kill each other every day. Listing muslim on muslim violence, is rhetoric used to divert attention from the real issue's.

Most human being's on earth just want to have food to eat and a loving family. There is only so much resources and manpower on earth to produce goods. It is impossible for us to have so much wealth, and greed without the people we are exploiting feeling angry. If you could grasp the compassion it takes to understand why people would hate us, you wouldn't harbor so much hatred in your heart. IT IS WRONG TO KILL PEOPLE FOR WEALTH, AND VEIN. If there is a God, and hell, and satan, etc, you can rest assure that American interest's in the devil's underworld will be secure, as our entire military will be there.

David-Belden, what are your thoughts on these quotes (please try to comment on them...):

"Before we rush to condemn America we must remember that even today millions of poor and miserable people all across the world are lining up outside US embassies eager to come to America, not just to live here but to become an American. No Muslim country today, can claim that people of other nations and other faiths see it as a promise of hope, equality, dignity and prosperity." -- Muqtedar Khan, Ph.D. Association of Muslim Social Scientists, Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy

"I would rather live in America under Ashcroft and Bush at their worst, than in any “Islamic state” established by ignorant, intolerant and murderous punks like you and Mullah Omar at their best...It is time that we Muslims acknowledge that the freedoms we enjoy in the US are more desirable to us than superficial solidarity with the Muslim World. If you disagree, then prove it by packing your bags and going to whichever Muslim country you identify with."
-- Muqtedar Khan, Ph.D., February 12, 2003

"Hijacking Planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood constitute a form of injustice that can not be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts."
Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Ulama, on September 15th, 2001

"Those terrorists must be reading a completely different Quran than the rest of us. This isn't about Islam. It's about terrorism." --
US Marine Corps Captain Aisha Bakkar-Poe.

"Violent, extremist Islamists invoke on their own head the true jihad. Challenging all the peoples of the Earth, and first of all traditional Islam, professed by the overwhelming majority of the Islamic world, these forces put themselves in opposition to Islam. And reacting against them is a religious, moral, social and political duty of each Muslim."
A speech by Sheikh-ul-Islam, Talghat Tajuddin, Supreme Mufti, Representative of the Central Spiritual Board of Muslims for Russia and the East-European countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States

America is creating, while the anti-American forces are destroying:

Untreated waste is polluting the Euphrates River, and many treatment plants require repair. More than 45 pipelines have exploded.

According to the Gulf Daily News, the Iraq Project and Contracting Office employed 80,000 Iraqis each day in the early weeks of August 2004. 100 job sites have opened across Iraq, and 900 more were opened in late 2004, early 2005

Although the water supply has reached prewar levels in some provinces, aging and poorly maintained equipment combined with looting and vandalism leaves the drinking water system substandard. 157 wells are being constructed in Arbeel, Kirkuk, Al-Sulaymaniyah and Dhouk governorates, and several dams are being constructed across the country, including in Al-Sulaymaniyah governorate and the Western Desert. According to a U.N. survey taken in 2004, about 54% of Iraq has access to drinking water.[14]

However, conditions look to be improved. A new water canal has been constructed to supply clean water to Basrah and Thi Qar in April of 2006.

Attacks, murders, bombings and armed vandalism are routine threats to reconstruction contractors. Since reconstruction began in March 2003, 575 death claims for contractors of all nationalities have been submitted under the Defense Base Act, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. [11] In addition, there have been thousands of insurance claims by construction workers for injuries sustained in attacks. It is believed that these figures are probably underreported, especially among Iraqi contractors. Intimidation of workers has delayed projects and reduced the availability of non-Iraqi expert technicians. It is estimated that 25% of reconstruction funds have been used to provide security to construction workers and job sites.

Attacks and vandalism have also affected completed projects including sabotage of oil pipelines and high-voltage electricity towers.

"Nearly 12 million of you braved the car bombers and assassins last December to vote in free elections. The world saw you hold up purple ink-stained fingers, and your courage filled us with admiration. You've stood firm in the face of horrendous acts of terror and sectarian violence -- and we will not abandon you in your struggle to build a free nation. America and our coalition partners will continue to stand with the democratic government you elected. We will continue to help you secure the international assistance and investment you need to create jobs and opportunity, working with the United Nations and through the International Compact with Iraq endorsed here in New York yesterday. We will continue to train those of you who stepped forward to fight the enemies of freedom. We will not yield the future of your country to terrorists and extremists. In return, your leaders must rise to the challenges your country is facing, and make difficult choices to bring security and prosperity. Working together, we will help your democracy succeed, so it can become a beacon of hope for millions in the Muslim world."

............ This is an interesting quote, it contains truth, but has no relevance to the issue at hand. Sure there are people who want to come join the winning team, but that still does not justify our imperial destructiveness. Every country has it's traitor's, our's being the leadership. We've got insane businessmen driving our country in to a global war. WTF??? They are using American tax dollars, to line there own pockets with war profits. I agree with you that there is a LOT of prosperity in America, and it CAN be a great place to live. I love California, and it will always be my home, and i can't blame these sanction starved people for lining up to come here. But you see it's our prosperity, not theirs. Were living plush, off the sweat of the poor. Ask yourself, do you value life, or material possessions? I also found the source amusing. The center for the study of Islam and Democracy. Seeing as how Islam and Democracy don't really mix with each other, i wouldn't think there was that much to study. It is still very simple; some choose our culture (or void), and some like their traditions. It is not our right to choose for them.

.............. WOW!!! The "pack your bags and leave america if you don't like it" idea, is the oldest trick in the jungle, also the most childish. I would expect better from a P.H.D. After reading this, i would strongly advise finding better sources for your quote material. Wow! I've heard ignorant construction workers make a stronger argument than that!

If you truly believe wer'e trying to help the people of iraq, your being mislead by your leadership. It's conquest, plain, and simple. You can quote all you want, from people claiming our toys are shinier than theirs. That's a typical american attitude. You cannot use the argument that "we" are more righteous than "you", as a justification for war. When thinking logically, you can see that this is not a responsible global position. It's this type of aggression that leaves American citiezens in danger. This is the truth, regardless of how many people are lined up to come munch burgers, and run gas stations. Your'e trying to argue that we are not responsible for our actions, and it is JUST NOT TRUE. Which reminds me of my original point, the reason they hate us is because we are freaking bombed the shit out of their country twice, sanctioned them, betrayed them, abandoned them, lied to them, and have killed hundreds of thousands of their innocent, and not because of extremist propaganda. THOU SHALL NOT KILL!!! The reason the extremist groups, (which obsession profits from) exitst, is because we are murdering innocent arabs. They rose from a need, a need to fight tyranny. The American military is killing SOOOOOOOOO many more innocent people than the muslim extremists it's ridiculous. They are bad for killing, but our military is far worse for killing far more. These, are the facts, and if you support war, you support the death of innocent, which is the floor of humanity no matter what religion you speak. God help us because we have killed millions of innocent people, since the pioneers of this country lost control to the corrupt.

Ah David, I fear you will always miss the point
:-)

We are not choosing for them...that's the beauty I was getting at. THEY are choosing the country that you hate so much.
:-)

THEY would be the first ones to tell you "my friend, if you hate your America so much please leave to make room for us"

I'm not even American but I can almost hear those poor folks saying "God bless America"...those poor folks who live in countries where there is repression, authoritarianism, no voting rights, no religious freedom, no freedom to criticize your government (as you're doing), the fear of doing anything "different" or remotely "anti-government"....

I often say "God bless Canada"...as each day goes by I find myself saying "God bless America"

The millions lining up to be your fellow American, at least some must say it too.

I guess YOU still haven't found a better country than the one you so despise or you would have left a long time ago...

Man guilty of six-year-old's 'honour' killing

The Guardian

A teenager was convicted yesterday of the manslaughter of a six-year-old girl who died in a so-called honour attack.
Daryll Tuzzio, 18, was found guilty of carrying out a plot allegedly hatched by neighbours who were furious that the girl's older brother was having a relationship with their 15-year-old daughter.

The jury which convicted Tuzzio acquitted a local dentist, Hussain Ahmed, 26, of murder, nine attempted murders and arson with intent to endanger life.

david-belden, I often criticize those friends of mine who have this romantic view of American foreign policy; a view where "nothing is wrong or has ever been wrong"

Your views are on the other end of the spectrum where you blame the entire problems of the world on American foreign policy. Limiting the discussion to just the problem with radical islamists...if you think their barbarian rampage of murder all over the world is solely the result of US for policy, then you're living a lie.

You've created a lie for yourself, a dreamworld no better than those friends of mine who have a romantic notion of US for policy.

If you think that radical Islamists murdering Muslims in Indonesia, Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Algeria, and the Sudan (to name a few examples) is the result of American foreign policy, then I fear you will forever be trapped in this lie you've created for yourself.

"Should we refer to those Nazis who operated concentration camps as ‘radical Nazis’ and the rest as ‘moderates’? How about racial supremacist theory? Was it hijacked by a few misguided enthusiasts in the American South who reacted to changing times with unfortunate violence? After all, the majority of racists in the world do happen to live peaceably.

Well, no. Racial and ethnic philosophies such as these are fundamentally flawed and inherently dangerous.

The problem isn’t necessarily how they are interpreted, but rather that the very principle - of assigning people to groups based on irrelevant characteristics over which they have no control - is a recipe for such interpretation. How can comparison, discrimination and exclusion not follow?

In the same vein, apologists for Islam (including non-Muslim multiculturalists) insist that terrorists are merely radicals who have hijacked a peaceful religion. But no one is losing their heads to fanatics of other faiths these days. So, what really accounts for the violence coming out of the Islamic world and the astonishing indifference of most Muslims toward it?

It is that Islam, like racism, is a supremacist ideology.

In Islam, people are categorized into one of two very distinct groups: believers and infidels. To illustrate the contrast, consider that although Muslims are commanded to be peaceful toward each other, there is nothing under Sharia that a believer can do to an infidel to merit punishment. Muhammad, himself, owned and traded slaves. He killed those who criticized him and did not dissuade his men from raping women captured after battle.

On top of this, the Qur’an is littered with explicit references to the sort of abuse that awaits non-Muslims in the afterlife.

If Allah hates Christians, Hindus, and others to the extent that he intends on roasting their flesh and further torturing them for eternity, then what possible value can their lives have on earth? After all, you don’t worry about stepping on an ant – and the ant isn’t even condemned to Hell.

Liberals in the West, who otherwise reject supremacist theory and claim to be "horrified" by policies such as relegating African-Americans to the back of the bus, really need to take a hard look at the ideology and disturbing practices of Islam – because the back of the bus looks pretty good to the Christian convert with a rope around his neck, or the 'adulterous' woman planted in the ground awaiting a barrage of rocks."

You keep listing "extremist" killings. I know these guys are bad, just like anyone who kills innocent people. Bottom line! Too often politics cover up the true issues at hand. Humanity, and Morality. Do you truly believe that the U.S. has killed no innocent arabs? I know that "extreme" arab's kill innocent Arab everyday, but that doesn't make it right for us to do it. Two wrongs don't make a right! Like i said before, i don't believe in killing people. It seems like i might have heard this radical concept somewhere else. Oh yeah, i remember, have you heard of the ten commandments? Thou shall not kill is a pretty basic concept, not hard for most humans to adhere to. Because most humans know in their hearts, that it's not okay too kill, because they can feel it. Not because they aren't supposed to. I think people are absolutely nuts. Everybody is so wrapped up in their own interest, their ego, and their politics ( politics are often ego, and interest driven making it more fun), that they forget about the basics, the golden rule. I'm not siding with the U.S., or the extremists. Without supporting the extremists, i'm very simply stating, that the arab world, and most of the rest of the world, resents America for our violence, and financial and military ambitions. The only reason i ever blogged here is because i didn't like the notion that the Arab world had some how been tricked in to disliking the U.S.
