The Filipino Army is
throwing 3 extra battalions, about 1,500 men, into the fight against Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiyah on Jolo Island. This raises the number to 7,500 troops. JI peratives Dulmatin and Umar Patek have been spotted on Jolo. Dulmatin's wife will be deported to Indonesia. Four captives escaped from their Muslim kidnappers on Jolo.
