i am glad that many in america and around the world are standing up to the conservative and neo-conservative governments that got us all into this mess in the first place. it is my hope that we won't ever elect these people again- but human nature being what it is- alas, i know that it will happen.

It's the conservative and neo-conservative governments' fault? You don't think radical Islam is to blame a bit as well?

Re: Orthodox Jews.

Israel is a secular country. STRIKE 1!

Israel did not re-appear out of thin air, and they believe God can not act through men, and therefore Israel should not exist until God makes it happen - but not through the action of men. So they are loopy.

They do not represent Orthadox Jews - they are a minority.

Steven, Israel you're right "kind of"

Israel legal system mixes influences from Anglo-American, Continental and Jewish law, as well as the declaration of the State of Israel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_the_Establishment_of_the_State_of_Israel%2C_May_14%2C_1948)

Religious tribunals (Jewish, Sharia'a, Druze and Christian) have exclusive jurisdiction on annulment of marriages.

But I would argue that Israel is the most secular and democratic country in the middle east. They actually have ELECTIONS that mean something:
